My name is Kevin Gilchrist and I teach in Calgary, Alberta at Sir Winston Churchill High School. This year is my fifteenth year at Churchill, and I really love it! Prior to teaching at Churchill I taught in every quadrant in the city and also in Japan for a couple of years. While I was in Japan I taught at two junior high schools (one was my base school and the other was my visit school) and I also visited elementary schools once a week in a little town of about 20,000 people in Gifu prefecture called Ono-cho. While I was in Japan I was part of the JET Programme, which is a program that is sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education. I am married and have two kids as well. I have lived in Calgary off and on since 1992 when I came to Calgary to complete my first degree. I have a BA in History, a BEd in Secondary Social Studies, and a Masters in Education. In the second semester (2018-2019 school year) I am teaching Social Studies 20-1, and two sections of Social 30-1. This is my 23rd year of teaching.
