Today we set up the order in which we'll cover current events. If you ever aren't sure about what news item to cover, ask beforehand and I'll give you some suggestions. I also went into a little bit more detail with the study guide to let you know what might be on tomorrow's unit final. Be "test-wise", anticipate what questions that might be asked and prepare for them. I sent out the "Thrillionaire" game (at about 5:30 p.m.), so please check your e-mail for this game. Have fun! See you tomorrow in class, or possibly even tutorial.

You wrote your "Nationalism in Europe" quiz today in class, and you received the results at the end of the class. I also had you read in Chapter 7 pages 128-135, and you had to answer questions 1-5 on page 135. This was assigned for homework.

wat will our identity final mostly consist of? Would it be focused on chapter 17? or mainly the powerpoints?
the powerpoint which you have sent us contains some information we have not learned. Will our identity final go into deeper detail regarding ethnocentrism and assimilation? If so, where can we find this information? And just out of curiosty, if we did good on that powerpoint millionaire, do you think we will do well on our identity unit final?
and when do you usually reply to our questions? an hour later or so?
Wow! Lots of questions. I don't always see the comments right away, so it varies how quickly I reply to your comments. I'll try to answer all of the questions posted here tonight, and hopefully, alleviate some concerns.
The Identity unit final draws questions from pretty much everything I talked about today in class. Yes, there will be questions that will be drawn from material in chapter 17. There will also be questions related to the various PowerPoint presentations. I also made up questions which will directly relate to readings that I gave you. It is a very fair test, and the study guide is very clear.
Your Identity final will NOT go in to greater detail with terms like ethnocentrism, assimilation, melting pot, and cultural mosaic. These terms may appear on the unit final. I expect you to already know these terms from earlier years of Social Studies, or things that we have looked at so far this year.
With regard to the "Thrillionaire" PowerPoint game that I sent out to you: please keep in mind that I was limited in space to write questions, so a lot of the questions are purely knowledge level. If you did well on that quiz it might help you tomorrow, but it does not guarantee success, but it may help.
the readings only consists of "Canadians are not Americans"and "the one regarding Canadian relations with the U.N/free trade with the U.S right? just making sure.....
Yes, those are the two readings. In the first one you'll find some information on the melting pot and the cultural mosaic (fruitcake). The other reading focuses on the FTA and Canada's international reputation in the UN. Try to anticipate what questions I might ask from these sources.
any questions u can dish out b4 da test?
