Social 10
You wrote your Canadian Geography Quiz today. This is the easiest quiz that you will get from me this year, so hopefully the results will be good. After completing the quiz you were to continue working on the Regionalism booklet, specifically, you should be on the Population Distribution section of the booklet.

I collected your DBA Assignment and French Revolution timelines from you at the beginning of class. I then assigned more questions from Chapter 3, specifically Q 9-16. All assigned Chapter 3 questions will be taken in on Tuesday.
Upcoming Important Dates:
- Declaration of the Rights of Man assignment is due on Monday, September 18th (please don't think that you have to use all of the clauses!)
- Enlightenment Thinkers Quiz is on Monday, September 18th
- Chapter 3 questions (Q1-16) are due on Tuesday, September 19th

You are to use the 17 articles/clauses included in the handout and see which boxes that fit in. You don't have to use them all, some just don't fit.
a lot of the clauses fit into the englightenment ideas, can you give me a ball number for the maximum clauses we are to use for each enlightenment idea and are we allowed to use just ONE clause for some of them.
thanks~
Do some of the clauses fit in more than one box? Like, are we allowed to use the same clause for multiple Enlightenment ideas?

One of the clauses (at least) isn't used at all. Some fit into multiple categories, so they can be used more than once. One of the Enlightenment ideas has seven clauses that fit into it.
are we just taking up the declaration assingment in class or are we handing it in to you on monday, like for marks?

We'll take it up in class.
ok thanks, another question i can't find the information to answer question 15 of the chapter 3 review questions, do you know where i might find that information?
Try around pages 44-45, when they are discussing the Girondins, the Jacobins and the Plain. It's important to note the differences between the Girondins and the Jacobins (what they believed in). I will be talking about the political spectrum in France and its connections to the modern day political spectrum in class very soon.
this doesnt have to do with homework much but i just wanted to know what movie were watching in class tommorow, and will we be needing our textbooks?

I said in class that you didn't need to bring your textbooks all next week. That either means that you weren't there or you weren't listening.

Exactly!
wuts the difference between Quesnay VS Smith's idea about economy?
Is it that Quesnay supported the laissez-faire laws only with agricultural products
and Smith supported laissez-fair laws with EVERYTHING like agriculture, trades etc????
for the quiz tom, are there going to be lots of questions on quesnay? cuz theres not that much about him...and also, do we need to know like what the works are about for each person? or do we just need to know the name of that work that the person did?

Not quite. Quesnay and the physiocrats also believed that the natural interchange between land, the economy and trade should be free of government interference.

There may not be a lot on Quesnay. It will help you know a little bit about each of the works, but it's not absolutely necessary for every single work. Just know who wrote what, and most importantly their main ideas and their view of human beings.
Both Rousseau and voltaire died in the same year (1778)....were they killed by the government?...because they were against the roman catholic church?!?!?!
Quensay wrote his book in 1758, so he came just afer Montesquieu...he wrote tableau economique....what was his major belief...??? separation of power? individual rights? his part is confusing me.
:(

Whose part? Quesnay or Rousseau? Now I'm confused.

Interesting theory, however Rousseau dies of a brain hemorrhage so that takes of the conspiracy theory.
i'm confused on Quesnay.... i know Rouseau had the ideas for the 'common good' and how humans are controlled also by their emotions and he's for individual rights....how does that differ form Quesnay?!?!?!
Just remember that Quesnay is the founder of physiocracy, was in favor of laissez faire economics. Quesnay has more similarities with Adam Smith than he does with Rousseau. Quesnay's focus was primarily on economics/"enlightened economics" if you will.
oh!!!!! rather than the individual rights, he focuses on how the government should be run!!!!!!!! thank you!!!!!
should we no the dates of the works?
?!?!?!?!? i think so.
UH OH!!!
Gilchrist??
I can't even think of 28 questions on all of them.....i tried to test myself...i only came up with fifteen....!!!!!!!
Gilchrist can we not do the test??? or at least postpone it
WHAT ABOUT MY DATES OF THERE WORKS QUESTION???
agreed. i don't get who wrote what. don't they all have the same general opinion?!?!?!
i thought he said he would never do date questions
ah!
?!?!?!?!? i think so.
and
agreed. i don't get who wrote what. don't they all have the same general opinion?!?!?!
are the same person i bet
yeah, but he said to focus on who wrote what, why and when....i think....that's what i wrote in my agenda anyway.....
do we HAVE to know the date all the books were published? i mostly know who wrote what...do we need to know when?!?!?!?!
I'm panicing!
ME too and its only a little quiz
lol. i've been reviewing all weekend...and i still don't really understand the difference between them all...there are a couple ....i mean with individual freedoms....but they all have around the same guidlelines....i keep getting them all mixed up!!!!
*burst out crying.* the stress!
