October 5


I went through the "recipe for success" for writing a WRA II Essay in class today. Tomorrow, we'll talk about other side arguments (OSAs) and arguments (As), and sentence starters for both. We'll also collectively write an essay together based on the sample that I gave you in class today.

 You are writing your Unit 1 Final Exam on October 10th, please see the study guide below.


Unit 1 Final Exam will be Tuesday, October 10th. The format for the exam is entirely multiple choice. It will consist of 55 multiple choice questions60-65% of the questions will be "source-based" questions, while the remainder will be simply knowledge and comprehension style questions. In other words, the source-based questions will use political cartoons, timelines, a chart or diagram, a graph, a reading, a photo or a map, and you will have answer questions related to that source. The source-based questions will be difficult to prepare for. You must have a firm grasp of the concepts and key terms that were introduced in Unit 1, because that will allow you to apply the knowledge that you have to answer the multiple choice questions.

Please study your key terms from Chapters 1-5, and the topics covered in that unit.

I gave you an assignment that I want to able to check in Google Docs by next Friday. Working with a small team of people, you're going to build study notes/chart on how the following leaders dealt with the effects of the Great Depression, and what criticisms were leveled against them for their actions. The four leaders were Hoover, FDR, Bennett, and King. The focus here is obviously on Canada and the United States. Tomorrow, we'll talk a little bit more about economics, and specifically private enterprise/market economy. We'll also start watching "The Commanding Heights"
