Social 30-1
We covered a lot of territory in today's class. I have added all of you to the Social 30-1 wiki (please see the link on the left-web version of the blog) and the Unit 1 Google Doc. We went through the lecture "Introducing Government" which covered the political philosophies of Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau. I introduced the principles of individualism (principles of liberalism) and mnemonic device to remember them (PRICES), as well as the principles of collectivism (PRINCE). I also went through the 19th century political spectrum (desire for change spectrum), the 20th century political spectrum, the economic-political grid, and the techniques of DICTatorship (direction of popular discontent, indoctrination and propaganda, controlled participation, terror and force.
