I went through a lecture on the Japanese attack on the Pearl Harbor today. I also gave you a homework assignment tonight, it's a Paper 1 sample. Please complete questions 9-11. We'll go through the questions tomorrow in class, and then we will go through question 12 in small groups. Please remember that you're writing the Paper 1 on Case Study 1 on Wednesday, November 20th.

I went through a lecture today called "The Imposition of Liberalism", please go through the videos at the end of the Google Slides version of this lecture. One week from today (November 25th) you will be writing the Unit 2 Final Exam. I'm posting the study guide below. The results of your Chapter 7 Test have been posted in PowerSchool. You are writing Unit 2 WRA II Essay this Thursday, November 21st. You will get the essay question sheet in advance. I will re-teach how to write a position paper tomorrow and Wednesday, then on Thursday you will write the position paper.

I lectured on the Nixon administration today. I shared with prior to class a PowerPoint lecture called "The Nixon Years". You are writing your Paper 3 tomorrow on the Civil Rights Movement. Remember, I will choose one question from each Google Doc working group and include it as a choice on this exam. I'll probably start talking about Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter tomorrow.

I gave you some class time to work on an advantages and disadvantages chart on the WTO. This chart is due tomorrow. I went through a PowerPoint lecture on the "Challenges and Opportunities of Economic Globalization", which I finished in class. I have posted the results from your Unit 2 Final Exam on HomeLogic.

I gave you the Unit 2 Research Project booklet today, and you drew lots and "drafted" topics to study. This project is due on Tuesday, May 15th, so you have lots of time (don't procrastinate). I also went through the Eight Stages of Genocide as well. Tomorrow, we'll be watching a documentary that covers many genocides of the 20th and 21st centuries called "Scream Bloody Murder". We should be able to start our case study of the Rwandan genocide this week as well.

We finished off "White Light/Black Rain" today, and then I moved on to the "Eight Stages of Genocide". You will have to finish off the rest of this PowerPoint on your own time. You can find the presentation on the Social 20-1 wiki under "Unit 2 Presentations". Tomorrow, I will show you a documentary of genocides in the 20th and 21st centuries called "Scream Bloody Murder".

I picked up where I left off yesterday, by going into greater detail on first past the post (FPTP) system and proportional representation (PR) by looking at the 2008 Canadian federal election and recasting it using the PR system. I then showed a video that summarized the Canadian political system quite succinctly.

Social 20-1

Mr. Fitz went through the "8 Stages of Genocide" with you today. You need to memorize these stages and remember examples of each of the stages from the Holocaust, the Rwandan Genocide, the Cambodian Killing Fields, etc. Depending on the time, Mr. Fitz may have started showing you "Scream Bloody Murder". If not, we'll start watching this CNN documentary on Tuesday.
