March 6

I gave you a reading in class today called "Canadians are not Americans". If you missed class today, you need to get a copy of this reading from me tomorrow. Also, I have sent you today's PowerPoint presentation. Please do the activity on the last slide of the presentation. Don't forget that your Chapter 4 questions are due tomorrow. I collected your French-English Relations Timeline projects at the beginning of class as well, so if you missed class, you need to hand that assignment in as soon as possible. I also returned your marks for the Regional Brochure assignment. These assignments were really well done!

I gave you a booklet today on Napoleon. There are two word searches, one crossword puzzle, and map assignment in this package. The word searches and crossword puzzle are due on Wednesday, March 8th. The map assignment is due on Thursday, March 9th. Additionally, I have e-mailed you a chart entitled "Napoleon's Conquests" which is also due on Thursday. There were a few problems with the crossword puzzle, so I will help you with a few of the clues. Please keep in mind that those puzzles and word searches are also used in 20 IB, so some of the clues are a bit of a challenge (and the answers aren't even in your textbook). Here are the answers to a few of the clues:

  • #14 Across: Ney
  • #6 Down: Campo
  • #36 Down: Rivoli
  • #30 Down: Pitt

There will be some challenging ones in the word searches too, but start with the ones that you know and use a process of elimination to solve the rest. I will be giving you a study guide for the big test that's coming up next week very soon. It will cover the French Revolution, Napoleon, and the Congress of Vienna (which we will be getting to very shortly).

I'm including a hyperlink here to a PDF file. I would like you to click on this hyperlink, then open the PDF file, and print it off. It contains some nicely laid out information regarding Napoleon's domestic policy. Don't worry about doing the activities, just read them over, and see if you know the answers to the questions. This source will be helpful for an upcoming Document Based Analysis assignment. Click here.

I can't seem to find the answers to "Prussian War Minster whose military reforms did much to restore Prussian military strength after her serious defeat at jena in 1806" (Starts with s and has 11 characters) AND "Initiated by a series of Orders in Council and enforced by the powerful British fleet, it was a severe economic blow to Napoleon's plans" (Starts with B and has 8 characters).
