IB 30/35

I gave you some time at the beginning of class to read through the booklet of readings and maps on WWII from the book "The Map History of the Modern World". You should have read, highlighted and annotated this entire booklet today (if you didn't finish this in class, consider it homework). We watched Episode 7 of WWII in Colour today. We'll be looking at the Normandy invasion tomorrow and wrapping up WWII in the European theatre in tomorrow's class.

Social 10-1

We did some housekeeping today at the beginning of class, with me giving back your Unit 3 WRA II Essays and TNC Dossier Assignments. I also showed you the results of Part A of the Final Exam, and your current overall mark going into Part B on Friday, January 19th. Part B of the Final Exam is 80 multiple choice questions, it's worth 15% of your final mark in the course, and you will have 2 hours to write it. Most of you will be in the Main Gym for this exam. We started a film study of "Contagion" today which we'll finish off tomorrow.

You wrote your Unit 2 WRA I today. We're starting Unit 3 material tomorrow. If you want to print off a hard copy of the PowerPoint lecture that I'm starting tomorrow, it's on the Social 10-1 wiki under Unit 3 Presentations, and it's called "Foundations of Economic Globalization".

We watched "Blitzkreig to the Bomb" today. We're going to continue our study of World War II tomorrow by looking at the Normandy invasion.

We watched an excerpt from "Saving Private Ryan" today to cover the Normandy invasion. We'll begin our study of the Holocaust tomorrow.

You wrote your Chapter 5-6 Test yesterday (I'm in the process of marking it, it will take me a while to get both classes marked), and today we watched "Blitzkrieg to the Bomb". Tomorrow, you'll be watching an excerpt from "Saving Private Ryan" since we're looking at the D-Day landing on the beaches of Normandy.

I covered the role of Canada in the First World War today. I also showed you a video from the CBS History Series on World War I, today's episode was called "Trench Warfare". Tomorrow we'll look at the role that Latin America played in WWI. Please remember that your rough draft of your IA is due on Thursday, October 31st. You'll be doing a WRA I three source analysis next week on Thursday, November 7th, you'll have 60 minutes to write it. You'll also have a test on Friday, November 8th on the Emergence of the Americas Unit Test which includes 38 multiple choice questions and a matching section. I will post the study guide on the blog later this week.

We watched the first part of the A & E Biography called "The Fatal Attraction of Adolf Hitler". I also gave you the results of your Economic Systems Exam today. You have a Unit 2 WRA I three source analysis tomorrow, and then on Thursday you will be writing your Chapter 5 Test, please see the study guide here (scroll down to find it).
