October 11

Welcome back from the Thanksgiving long weekend. I hope you enjoyed the weekend and didn't take in to much of the gobble-gobble. We covered a lot of territory again today. We looked at a side-by-side comparison of demand-side and supply-side economics. I have to find one more handout on this topic which I will give you tomorrow and it covers how each economic theory deals with a recession. We then looked at some background information on Russian history (I will send these notes to you tonight along with notes on Marx, Lenin and Stalin). We then watched a video from the BBC 20th Century History series entitled "Stalin and the Modernization of Russia". We also looked very quickly at different strands of socialism (utopian socialism, scientific socialism, democratic socialism). You have a test this Thursday called "The Ideological Reaction to Industrialization Test", please see the study guide here. I also did a homework check on your Chapter 6 Key Terms and Questions.

I went through a handout today called "If World War I Were a Barfight" which quickly covered the causes and aftermath of the First World War. I then started a presentation today called "Allied Victory and the Paris Peace Conference", which I will finish tomorrow. Your Chapter 5 Key Terms and Questions are due on Thursday, please make sure that you actually read the chapter! See you tomorrow!
