June 11

We played Kahoot in all of my classes today. Make sure that you know when/where your exams are taking place. For Social 30-1 students, the lists are posted outside of the Business Office letting you know which computer lab you are writing Part A of the Diploma Exam.

Part B of your Final Exam is on Thursday, June 13th in the Main Gym from 1-3 pm. It is assigned seating, and you are sitting in alphabetical order. We're in Rows E-F. I'm supervising the English 30-1 Diploma Exam Part "A", which is also on Thursday, so I'm really not available for tutorial sessions prior to your exam.

Here are the dates of your Diploma Exams:

  • Social 30-1 Part A is on Thursday, June 13th (in assigned computer labs)
  • Social 30-1 Part B is on Monday, June 24th
These exams both start at 9 am, so make sure that you're at Churchill by 8:30 am. Don't re-read the textbook to study! Use your Social 30-1 course books to review, and make sure that you have memorized the writing guides for the WRA I and WRA II. For Social 30-2 students, you need to memorize how to write the three writing assignments by Thursday.

June 10

We continued doing the Unit 4 pair partner tests today. Once you finished off the Chapter 16 questions, we moved on to the Unit 3 booklets, and we got through two more chapters (9 and 10). Tomorrow, we'll be playing Kahoot! If you missed class today, please remind me that you need to fill out the scantron sheet for Part B of your Final Exam. Please remember that the Final Exam Part B is on Thursday, June 13th at 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Main Gym. The study guide is in the back of your Social 20-1 course books (pages 311-314).

You wrote the Trial Final Exam today, it will wipe out your lowest test mark that you had this semester. It may or may not have much impact on your overall mark. Please check out the following important dates:

  • Diploma Exam Part A is on Thursday, June 13th (assigned to computer labs)
  • Diploma Exam Part B is on Monday, June 24th (Main Gym)

You worked on Unit 4 pair practice tests today. We'll finish off the Chapter 16 multiple choice questions on Monday, and then we'll move on to Unit 3 questions. This is your last weekend to study for the Final Exam Part B. It's on Thursday, June 13th, and it's 80 multiple choice questions.

We were in the Blue Lab today and you were split into different Google Doc groups to do research on various social protest movements. If you didn't finish in class, please work on the Google Docs this weekend. Please remember that you have your Trial Final on Monday.

June 6

You continued working on your small group position paper outlines. I'll be linking them all to one hyperlinked Google Doc this weekend, and giving you some feedback on what you've written so far. Please go directly to the Blue Lab tomorrow. Please remember that the Trial Final is on Monday, June 10th. The study guide is at the back of your Social 30-1 course books.

You wrote your Unit 3 Final Exam today, the results have already been posted on PowerSchool. Tomorrow, you'll be doing a pair partner test on Unit 4 material, don't worry, it won't be for marks. I simply want to expose you to questions from the last unit in Social 20-1. One week from today you're writing Part B of the Final Exam. The study guide is in the back of the Social 20-1 course books.

June 5

Social 30-1 students were split into small groups and selected a Diploma Exam Part A booklet, set up a Google Doc and proceeded to make a detailed essay outline for their selected WRA II position paper. Social 30-2 students worked on Assignment I today (they'll work on Assignment II tomorrow, and Assignment III on Friday). If you have a laptop at home, please bring it tomorrow, it will be better than using the laptops in the school laptop cart. Check out samples of student writing by searching for "Alberta Social Studies 30-1 (or 30-2) January [insert year; between 2010-2019]". Check out what you need to do to get an EXCELLENT. Keep studying for the Trial Final (June 10th).

You wrote your Final Exam Part A today in the Blenheim Room. Everyone was present, so thank you for that! It would have been extremely difficult scheduling lab time tomorrow because the Social 10-1 students are writing Part A of their Final Exam tomorrow. Please remember that you're writing the Unit 3 Final Exam tomorrow.

Please review all of the Unit 3 PowerPoint presentations (you can find them on the Social 20-1 wiki):
