July 13

You wrote a quiz for "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" which we watched yesterday at the beginning of today's class. I did a homework check on the Chapter 9 Key Terms and Questions at the beginning of class. I gave you some notes on the Chapter 10 material, including a handout on the Indian Act, and notes on the board about the Indian Act, assimilation, marginalization and the residential school system. We then watched the film "Where the Spirit Lives" and completed a film study on it. You also wrote a quiz on the film as well.

We also watched an episode of CBC News in Review about the Canadian government issuing an apology for the residential school system. Your Chapter 10 Booklets are due tomorrow. Please check the upcoming important dates below, and the study guide for the Unit 2 Final Exam.
