I showed a video on the construction of the Berlin Wall, and tomorrow you'll watch a video from the CNN Cold War series on when the Cold War began to end in Europe. I re-taught how to write the WRA I, and I went through analyzing political cartoons too. SOCIAL 10-1 UNIT 1 FINAL EXAM STUDY GUIDE:

Unit 1 Final Exam will be Tuesday, October 10th. The format for the exam is entirely multiple choice. It will consist of 55 multiple choice questions, 60-65% of the questions will be "source-based" questions, while the remainder will be simply knowledge and comprehension style questions. In other words, the source-based questions will use political cartoons, timelines, a chart or diagram, a graph, a reading, a photo or a map, and you will have answer questions related to that source. The source-based questions will be difficult to prepare for. You must have a firm grasp of the concepts and key terms that were introduced in Unit 1, because that will allow you to apply the knowledge that you have to answer the multiple choice questions.

I went through a Google Slides lecture on FDR and the New Deal, with a focus on the alphabet agencies and how they focused on relief, recovery, and reform. While I was lecturing, you should have completed the companion chart. I also gave you a couple of handouts on the critics of the New Deal. This homework assignment is due on Thursday. I gave both of my classes a reading  booklet with two readings from the Opposing Viewpoints series, one entitled "Globalization Benefits the World's Cultures" and the other "Globalization Hurts the World's Cultures", these two essays should give you some ideas for your essay planning. In my Period 2 class we went through your source that you have to write your Unit 1 WRA II Essay on Monday. I'm going to post this on the Social 10-1 wiki, and I'll share the page with you so it's easy to find. My Period 4 class completed their course selection for Grade 11 courses. We started looking at Keynesian economics today. We revisited the boom and bust cycle, and looked at the Keynesian monetary and fiscal policy responses at the various stages of the cycle, and the rationale behind those actions. We also talked about welfare capitalism and modern liberalism too. We also looked at the start of the Great Depression.
