SOCIAL 30-1


I continued on with the Cold War today. We went through the timeline of key events in Cold War and the Cold War Concept Notes. I showed you a video from the Turning Points in History series on the Korean War. I also talked briefly about the midterm election results. We'll be taking about the American political system very soon. Your Chapter 7 Key Terms will be due on Friday, and then I will take in your Chapter 7 Questions on Monday, November 12th. 

Advance polls opened yesterday for the plebiscite vote on the 2026 Olympics. The main vote takes place on November 13th. Even though none of you are 18 yet, and can't vote in this plebiscite, I still think it will be beneficial to you to get informed about the Olympic bid. The question of investment in an Olympic involves all three levels of government spending, so this definitely ties into what we have been studying this year. I've created a blank Google Slides presentation that you have all been invited to edit. I want you to explore both sides of this debate. What arguments are both sides putting forward to convince voters to their side's point of view. I'm including some links below for research purposes.

I showed you a video from the China Rises series called "Getting Rich" and while you watched this video you were supposed to answer the assigned questions from the film study sheet. Your Chapter 10 Key Terms were due today. Next week you have your Unit 2 Final Exam, you can find the study guide below.
