May 2

We continued looking at WWII today in class. I gave you an assignment called "Causes of World War II", which we started working on today. You will get some class time to work on this assignment tomorrow after you write your Interwar Years Quiz. Please remember to study for your Interwar Years Quiz, which is tomorrow. You should all have the study guide for this quiz. If you were away the day that I wrote it up on the board, please get the study guide from a classmate.

For most of the period we reviewed for your upcoming Politics and Government Unit Final. Please remember that this unit final is all multiple choice, and that it is on Tuesday, May 8th. Here is the study guide for this unit final.

  • most of these concepts can be found in the PowerPoint presentations that I delivered with this theme
  • also check out the Parliamentary Key Terms (know the basics!)

2. Structure and Function of Government (see outline):

  • focus on PowerPoint presentations!
  • study from notes that you took from the videos!

how long does it take for legislation to pass???
like the average?

Anonymous said...

it think it means that the conservatives didnt like getting a minority gov't and it shocked them...just a guess

for inconsistency,
you can look up martin's liberals and layton's NDP pass federal budget.. i think in 2005 "money bill"

anyone have anything for inefficency?

Anonymous said...

thx. still looking for the rest though

Anonymous said...

can anyone please tell me where I can find some examples for inefficiency?

Anonymous said...

supposely you need to know how long legislation passes... but.. i can't find that anywhere.. so please tell me if you do!

Anonymous said...

ive been looking everywhere and i still cant find any specific examples of how minority governments are inefficient

Anonymous said...

T.T so hard....
okay then.. how does minority governments slow down negotiations?

Anonymous said...

not sure about that but...this is just a suggestion...cuz all i found on the web is good stuff comming from minority governments...what if we wrote the esssay on how minority governments are good. i found some examples for that while looking for inefficiency

Anonymous said...

ahh.. too late.. i have so many examples on others than inefficiency ~,~

thanks tho...

Anonymous said...

whered you get them from? i only found 1 on inconsistency

Anonymous said...

a bit of input would be great just about now...
this is where i got some info from

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2005/04/26/martin-layton050426.html

something like paul martin couldnt give 4.6 billion to businesses cuz he couldnt get other parties to agree. instead they wanted the money to go towards social services

Anonymous said...

That's what we've been doing but the websites dont really wanna criticize the minority governments.

Anonymous said...

Then you criticize them yourself, take what is theirs and reformated into your own.

Anonymous said...

minority govs were inefficient cuz they slowed down the process of negotiations. in order to negotiate, they had to go through each party to agree and such. it is bad for problems that need to be dealt with immedietely

Anonymous said...

the slowed down part is easy to find. the hard part is finding the specific examples that go along with the theory

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know if they had a problem like that during WWI or WWII? Like they needed to take imediate action but couldnt because of a minority?

Anonymous said...

instead of concentrating and focusing on one peculier task of trying to find a specific example, why not find an example for a easier argument, and find that other one later. If you are so confused, why not switch the other side?

can anyone tell me some more examples for instability? i can't seem to think of anything else! im doing instability, inefficiency and blameless gov.

Anonymous said...

i could use just about any examples right about now i only have 1

Anonymous said...

I saw a page with some info about how paul martins government barely passed 2 non-confidence votes...heres the link

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2005/05/19/second-confidence050519.html

Anonymous said...

i was thinking that would be a good example for instability

Anonymous said...

So did anyone find anything on how long it takes for a legislation to pass under a minority government?

How many questions is there going to be on the Politics and Government Unit Exam tomorrow for grade tens?
