June 7

For both Social 10 and Social 33 students:

Your Final Exam is a week from today!

After a brief Q&A session, I split into partners to work on a couple of sample practice final exams. We'll continue working on this tomorrow.
Here's that hyperlink comparing U.S. military spending with Oreo cookies as a visual guide: True Majority.

You continued working on the post-Cold War/Contemporary World by looking at the Persian Gulf War, Yugoslavia and other key events that have happened since the end of the Cold War. You will get time to work on this tomorrow.

mr.gilchrist,
what is the difference between quality of life and standard of living?

-----------------------
Quality of life includes standard of living. Standard of living is an economic measure of how people are living, usually GDP per capita or wages are used to compare one region or country to another. Quality of life is the more encompassing term because it includes economic measures of well-being and social, physical, psycholgical and political measures of well-being. Does this help?

---------------------
You need to know who Louis Riel was, what the significance of his Metis rebellions were, and the effect that they had on French-English relations in particular, his trial and execution, and the different perspectives on Louis Riel in Ontario and Quebec.
