February 5

Today we moved on to looking at the concepts of individualism and collectivism. You will be having a quiz on this topic on Friday. I will be sending out the two presentations that we have done in class later on this afternoon, so please check your e-mail (possibly even in your junk mail folder if you have a Hotmail account). If you don't receive these presentations please send me an e-mail and I will send them out to you. You also have some homework from the textbook A Changing World which is due on Thursday, February 7th, so please make sure that you complete it.
  • Ideas About Political Organization (worksheet) is due on Thursday, February 7th
  • Individualism and Collectivism Quiz is on Friday, February 8th

I gave you some organizational webs at the beginning of class to show you the scope and sequence of the course. Then we played a game of "Global Bingo" (with prizes to be awarded tomorrow). Your homework assignment is very simple tonight: create a two column chart (one column labeled "item" and one column labeled "country"), and find 25 items from your household from 25 different countries. The completed chart is your first homework assignment that will be checked for marks, which I will do tomorrow in class. I also gave you a list of upcoming important dates, which I will summarize below:
  • 25 items-25 different countries chart is due tomorrow (February 6th)
  • World Geography Test is on Tuesday, February 12th
  • Chapter 1-2 Quiz is on Friday, February 22nd

Did China split up into 25 different countries? So, no.

It's 25 items in total. Those 25 items must come from 25 different countries. I can't make it any clearer than that.
