May 5

I gave you some time today in class to plan out your government poster project. Please remember that this assignment is due on May 15th. For this weekend, please remember to study for your Politics and Government Unit Final which is on Tuesday, May 9th.

I delivered a presentation today on start of the First World War to the stalemate that ensued. I will send this presentation out soon. I also showed you a website on the First World War, I will put some hyperlinks here, as well as in the permanent links which will help you improve your understanding of WWI. Here are the hyperlinks:

Will you be teaching Soc 20 next yr, Mr G?

Why do you ask? Are you a Grade 10 student who is desperately hoping that you NEVER get me again?

With a green-colored pencil, shade the Allies and associated powers light green.

What counts as an associated power?

I think associated powers mean the Allies and its allies. Or I hope so, else I'm screwed since I already colored them.

SS 20-4
For the Schlieffen Plan, do you want the arrow of how it was suppose to be, or how it was actually executed?

SS 20-4 questions: Draw the Schlieffen Plan as how it was executed, not the ORIGINAL plan. Is it worded that way? Allies and associated powers? Not Triple Entente and associated powers? If not, just color it as Triple Entente and their allies. Does that make sense?

The map is after World War I, right?
If so, can we use the map on the textbook pg271?

Check the title of the map. It's World War I right? So WWI is from 1914-1918. I'm not sure which map you're referring to in the textbook, since I don't have it at home with me. Just make sure that it isn't from 1919, because the map of Europe changed dramatically after the war, especially with the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

For the exam on tuesday, would we need to study from the textbook as well as the powerpoints + notes (from movie)? If so, which chapters should we study from?

Italy counts as part of the Triple Entente, right?

Kevin Gilchrist said...

Italy would count as joining the Allies. So color them as "associated powers".

For the Social 10 Politics and Government Unit Final study from the following things: PowerPoint presentations, notes from videos, Chapters 1-3 (only the parts that look familiar), and any time that I said something like, "I'm doing this for a reason, you'll see why" (think Pop Quiz material), study that too.
