Social 33
Today we looked briefly at "Hitler's Rise to Power" from your textbook A History of the Twentieth Century. You completed a fill in the blanks activity based on this short three page reading. For the remainder of the period we played some short review games.
Social 10
We watched the last video in the series today, called "Our Constitution". Hopefully the soundtrack and the information is now ingrained in your brains! Please remember the upcoming important dates:
- Political Cartoon Analysis Assignment is due on Tuesday, May 1st
- Government In-Class Position Paper is on Thursday, May 3rd

Ideally, it relates to themes that we have studied or will study in Social 10. If you tackle a political cartoon that is outside some of the topics that we've covered you run into the danger of not having the background knowledge to adequately analyze the meaning of the cartoon.
Mr. Gilchrist, where exactly are the political cartoons? or can we pick one from a random website?
Mr.Gilchrist where do we find the information about the Government in class position paper which is due on thursday.
Mr.Gilchrist do we have to site where we found the political cartoon?
Mr Gilchrist, are we supposed to do analysis on a single cartoon? If not, how much?
Do we actually have to create a title for the cartoon if it doesn't already have one? If so, can the title be simple or does it have to be witty?

I posted a list of hyperlinks on Thursday, so check that post. Or you could use one from a local newspaper.

I talked about this in class. Go look under Social Links. Find Mapleleaf Web. Open that hyperlink up. Once you're at the Mapleleaf Web main website, type into their search box "minority government". This is a good place to start.

You only have to analyze one political cartoon, and it should be about as long as the example that I sent to you.

You do not have to create a title for the cartoon.
