The Congress of Vienna was a meeting of the major powers of Europe. After Napoleon's abdication and exile to Elba (his first time in exile), the major powers meet to discuss what the could do undo the changes that the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Era had on Europe. They try to "turn back the clock" and readjust the boundaries of Europe so that France is the size it was prior to the French Revolution. The powers-that-be at the Congress of Vienna believed that the legitimate monarchs should be returned to power. So the Congress of Vienna was very reactionary in that they wanted to go back to the way things were.

Yes, of course it would silly. Magnesium hydroxide is a strong base, and hydorcholric acid is a strong acid, and acids neutralize bases. Shouldn't you be asking Mr. Nickel about this? He's the chemistry guru.

---------------------
The French Revolution brought the ideas of liberalism and nationalism to the world. It brought the values of liberty, equality and fraternity as well. It was a turbulent time that ultimately required a strong leader to take control of the country, enter Napoleon.

---------------------
Napoleon expanded the French empire. He put relatives on the thrones of neighboring countries. He forced other countries to submit to France. The only countries that remained completely free would be England and Russia, since he never conquered them. Eventually the nations of Europe banded together at the Battle of Leipzig to defeat him and send him into exile.

---------------------
Remember that nationalism is a step beyond patriotism, it's a feeling of belonging and pride in one's nation coupled with the belief that your nation is better than all others. Nationalism fuels the desire to expand your country's borders, makes you willing to go to war too. The first real sense of Frnch nationalism you see in the French Revolution is when the levee en masse is passed and the entire population of France is mobilized for war against the foreign armies that wanted to topple the Revolutionary government. When the French defeat their enemies it increased French nationalism. The French Revolution was a time of increased French nationalism, and you see that with the adoption of nationalistic symbols such as the flag and the national anthem.

You won't need a title for your essay. The essay topic is: To what extent should globalization shape identity?
