February 10

You wrote your Canadian Geography Quiz today at the start of class. You will get the results of this quiz on Monday. You do have some homework over the weekend: you must write a one page essay on the topic at the bottom of the Manufacturing/Population Distribution worksheet. Good luck!

I gave you a "Glossary of Names" and "Timeline" at the beginning of the class. I don't have an electronic version of these handouts, so please see me on Monday if you weren't in class today. These two handouts are very easy to understand, and they cover the time period from the French Revolution to the Napoleonic Era, so it's a really excellent reference for the next few weeks, and for review purposes too.
As far as homework goes, I would like you to finish reading Chapter 3: Causes of the French Revolution for Monday, and complete the questions 9-16 at the end of the Chapter 3.

Have a great weekend!

For the essay, should we have it in essay format with the body, intro, and conclusion? And also, should it have the right margins and be double-spaced?

Kevin Gilchrist said...

Absolutely. It can be single spaced though if you like.

Mr. gilchrist do u know where to get the information about the uneven manufacturing?

hi um do we have 2 do it one page written or one page typed?
and do we need a rough draft?

do we need a thesis

No rough draft will be handed in, I'm just taking in your published copy. It should be about one page typed up (12 point font), it will really vary how long it is if you do it by hand. A thesis statement would mean that you're writing a position paper, you're not. Obviously, there is a main idea to the essay (a central theme) and that is the reasons or factors that have led to the concentration of manufacturing in the Great Lakes-St.Lawrence region.

Hi, are we allowed to say presonal things, like "Me", or "I"?

For the essay, do you want one general factor with supporting details, or multple contributing factors?

Kevin Gilchrist said...

It is a formal essay, but it will probably be okay if you use "me" and "I". You should be able to come up with multiple contributing factors, hopefully three, so that the structure of your essay is 5x5 (5 paragraphs, 5 sentences each) at a minimum.

does climate work as a factor, cause people like milder climates rather than harsh climates

yeah climate is.
