October 20

Today we watched a brief film on the Industrial Revolution, and then I gave you some time to work on your Industrial Revolution research assignment. Please remember that this assignment is due on Tuesday.

I gave you some class time today to do some peer editing of your position paper outlines. Your revised outline is due tomorrow. We also took a look at the major topics that we will be covering during our next theme which is sovereignty.

on our template, there is no section where the use language is being marked. So maybe our papers may not sound as pleasant as you would like to be. Obviously, there will be no ur, or LOL, but just out of curiosty, are you also marking the use of language on our template? and if so, which category would you put under?

Good question. I guess what I want to stress is that you use formal English. I'm not necessarily expecting full sentences, so it would be hard to mark the use of language. I'll be really focusing on the exploration of the issue, the clearly stated thesis, the defence of the position and the supporting evidence (quality of examples), and the conclusion. Really look at the marking guide, make sure that you cover everything that you need to in the various sections.
