March 13

You were assigned some homework for tomorrow: the peacekeeping/FTA agreement booklet, the Canada's Symbols worksheet, and the Canadian peacekeeping map (using the map on page 301 as a guide). I also gave out your interim report cards. Your Identity Unit Final is on Monday, please check yesterday's post for the study guide. Oh, by the way, here is what I meant by being the "Darth Vader of PowerPoint":

Does it remind you of any one's presentation style?

You were given two assignments in class today: the Dictatorship Internet Project, which is due March 20th, and the Dictator Assignment (parts 1 and 2), which is due on March 21st. I also gave you class time to work on the Dictator Assignment. I gave you your interim report cards at the end of class.

Did we have to do a Septemeber 12th? cuz the last one on the sheet says September 6th??

No, you don't have to find September 12th. The September 6th date is the date when Labour Day fell in 2004. In 2007, it will fall on September 3rd. There's a chart at http://www.canadianheritage.gc.ca/progs/cpsc-ccsp/jfa-ha/index_e.cfm that summarizes all the dates that you would need to know. Like I said in class, some dates are fixed holiday dates, and others fluctuate from year to year. Just look at the dates that are near to the 2004 dates and you should be able to figure it out.

Hi Mr. Gilchrist, I'm having trouble connecting to the website for "Symbols of Canada's Identity". Could you post a link for me to try? Thanks.

Hi Mr. Gilchrist, for the symbols of Canada do we need to put what each symbol on the coat of arms represents or just the name like the Imperial Crown, the Royal Lion of Scotland, etc?

I just out the names down like Imperial Crown but what did you put for the two flags and the three maple leaves at the bottom of the shield?

It's http://www.canada.gc.ca/main_e.html and then on the left hand side look for a section labelled "About Canada" and click on that, and then you should be able to find things.
