March 5

We watched an A&E Biography of Benito Mussolini today, which took most of the class period. While you were watching the video you were to take notes on the rise and fall of Benito Mussolini, and any examples that you could see of the "techniques of dictatorship". I also did a homework check on your political cartoons (to see if you brought one to class), and I went over a handout on interpreting political cartoons.
You wrote your Regionalism Unit Final today in class, which for some of you, took almost the entire period. Please remember to start bringing Canada: A Nation Unfolding to class from now on. Also, please remember that your French-English Relations Timeline Assignment is due tomorrow.

For the timeline, if we do it in a booklet format, and we draw an actual line, do we have to space the events proportianally on the timeline. I mean if we have a date that's 1890 and a date that's 1892, do they need to be closer together than dates like 1870 and 1890. As well should we just put the references on the back of the timeline.

On the timeline, do you want two separate dates or events for the Riel Rebellions. Since you told us we needed the Red River and Northwest Rebellions, do you want us to mark them as two separate events?

mr. gilchrist, the powerpoint on french-english relations does not have the last 2 bullets on the assignment: formation of bloc quebecois and quebec referendum.

Mr. Gilchrist how do we cite the French English Relations ppt.

Anonymous said...

You don't. He took his info from Canada Today and he said we just cite that.

Hey, Mr. Gilchrist, how should we state our info? in point-form or in full sentences?

I don't take out a ruler and see if you have it to scale, don't worry. Yes, put the references on the back. Make sure that you use "hanging indentation".

-----------------
No just combine them.

Yes, you can. Just watch your transition speeds from slide to slide.

No.

True. You'll have to do a little research on those topics.

Don't worry about that. Make sure you cite Canada Today though.

------------------
Either. Pick a format and stick to it. You can do it in point form, or in paragraph form. If it's point form, it's 4-5 points per topic, and 1 paragraph per topic.

Mr Gilchrist, did you want us to just summarize your notes in our own words for the timeline or did you want us to go to other sources?

It's a good idea to go to other sources.

Sorry, I don't have a copy of that book at home. Don't worry about specific page references, but you do need the publishing information.

Yes, that would be good.

I can't find the publishing information for Canada Today. Can anyone help?

I seem to be needing help in this area also. I feel the best way to solve this is to leave it blank and fill it in tommarow. But I'm doing a powerpoint presentation so if anyone has this information, I hope you could share.
