March 15

I delivered a presentation today called "Canadian Sovereignty" which I will send to you today, so please check your e-mail. Also, when you check your e-mail, you should find a couple of games that I have sent to you to help review for your Identity Unit Final. Some of these questions might appear on the actual unit final. I also started talking about the structure of in-class position papers.

We watched a video today called "Joseph Stalin: Red Terror", and as you watched the video you were to answer questions on a worksheet.

For the current events, how current do they have to be? As well do we need to wirte a response to the article? For the background information, do you want us to research the topic/article before we present?

I'll try to answer your questions in order. Your current event must be within a few days of your presentation. Obviously, if you present on a Monday, events that happened on the weekend could be reported on. You don't need to write a response, you need to write a summary of the event. It's a good idea when you find an article or news event that you want to present that you do a little background research into the event, so that you can answer questions that relate to your event/topic. In other words, you should have more knowledge about the event than what was reported in the newspaper article or TV news story.
