I gave you a major assignment today, an Illustrated Concept Map. This assignment is due next Monday. If you missed today's class, you will need to get this handout from me, and you'll also need it to be explained to you. I also gave you a worksheet that covers Unit 1 (Chapters 1-5 in your textbook). I assigned homework from this worksheet. Please make sure that you have read Chapter 2 for tomorrow, and that you have added the five terms from Chapter 2 to your glossary of key terms.

  • World Geography Test is tomorrow

I think I said that there may be some that appear on the map that weren't on the list. I also said that there were more countries in your textbook that I didn't have on the list. So go through the textbook again.

It's Canberra, and it's the capital of Australia.

hi mr gilchrist,
for the Declaration of the rights of man assignment, do we have to use all the clauses? Does all the clauses have to be matched in the spaces provided on the sheet?

-----------------------
Sorry, I don't have my answer key or that assignment at home with me. If memory serves me correctly, most of the clauses are used, and some fit in more than one category.

---------------------
You need to know where the countries are that I put on the board. You also need to know where the world capitals are that I put on the board. There may be some more countries listed off in the textbook that I didn't put on the board. There's also a bonus country and bonus city to make 52. It's possible to get 52/50 on this test.

like for capital cities do we need to know exactly where they are?
for example if canberra is the capital city of aus. then do we need to know exactly where on aus. we put canberra or do we just need to know it goes in aus?

No, all the countries and cities are labeled already. You just have to identify them.

No, just the Chapter 2 key terms.

-----------------------
The countries are labeled with numbers. On a separate piece of paper you're going to write out all of those numbers. Next to the numbers you're going to write out the names of the countries and cities.

Impresciptible means "cannot be taken away, lost or revoked". Does that help?

how big should the concept map be?
(should it be on one sheet of paper, or poster paper?) (social 10)

The concept map should probably be poster paper size.
