April 6

I gave you a booklet today in class which should be viewed as additional material on the Industrial Revolution. You must complete all questions, charts and activities in this booklet by Monday, April 10th. Please remember that your Chapter 6 questions are due tomorrow, you are responsible for Q1-6 on page 110.

This quiz will be held next Thursday, April 13th. Here is the study guide:

  1. Causes of the Industrial Revolution
  2. Results of the Industrial Revolution
  3. Why did England industrialize first?
  4. What is the Agricultural Revolution?
  5. What is the Enclosure movement?
  6. What are the problems and benefits of industrialization?
  7. Key terms, key people associated with the Industrial Revolution

Format for this quiz:

  • Matching Section
  • Multiple Choice Section
  • Short Answer Section

We watched an excerpt of "Saving Private Ryan" to get an idea of what the Normandy invasion was like in June of 1944. The expectation is that you have read all of the WWI and WWII chapters in the textbook (Chapters 7-9, and Chapters 12-14). You homework assignment is as follows: send me an e-mail with three (3) Jeopardy! style questions tonight. We'll be playing a game of Jeopardy! in class on Tuesday in anticipation of your WWI and WWII Quiz.

  • Monday, April 10th: Library research for WWI and WWII Research Project
  • Tuesday, April 11th: In-Class Position Paper topic distributed
  • Wednesday, April 12th: WWI and WWII Quiz
  • Thursday, April 13th: In-Class Position Paper

These are the PowerPoints that you should have by now:
1. Canadian Sovereignty
2. Canada's Role in WWI (Part 1)
3. Canada's Role in WWI (Part 2)
4. The Interwar Years and the Road to WWII
5. Canada's Role in WWII

I'll be delivering a presentation on the Cold War tomorrow, so that will make six PowerPoint presentations.

For the quiz have ALL the terms from Chapters 7-9. For Chapters 12-14 please have the terms that I listed on the board completed for sure. I think that I've been really fair in trying to let you know what you're responsible for in WWII, but for the most part I've been working from memory. Please make sure that you've read all of the chapters and you should be fine.

I think that I've said this in class, yes, you are allowed to bring in notes for the position paper, but only what you can fit on about half a page of paper. I will talk about this more on Tuesday when you get the position paper question sheet.
