I delivered the Powerpoint presentation on the Congress of Vienna in class today. I will be sending this presentation out to you this evening, please make sure that you convert it to a Word document and then print it off. I have also sent you three addtional handouts. One is entitled "Reaction to Revolution" and it provides a nice summary of Chapter 5 and it has some key terms on it as well. The other two handouts are due on Friday, they are: "Revolution" (this chart, once completed will help summarize when and where revolutions took place in Europe, and what were some of the causes and results) and "The Congress of Vienna" (which deals with the territorial changes that took place as a result of the Congress of Vienna. Speaking of the Congress of Vienna, here is a hyperlink to a student's work on this subject. Think of this as supplementary notes. There's a timeline, a quiz, and a list of personalities and key decisions that were made at the Congress. Click here to view this website. Today was a pretty light day. I gave you a reading on the Free Trade Agreement and Canada's role in peacekeeping. If you missed class today, you'll have to get this handout from me on Monday. I also collected Chapter 17 questions as well, Q10-18 to be exact. I also gave you a homework assignment that is completely Internet-based, it is on symbols of Canada. This assignment is due on Monday. You can probably finish it tonight with very little effort. I also set up the current events component for Social 10. You have each been assigned a day on which you will present a current event that ties into one of the following themes: identity, regionalism, sovereignty, or politics and government.

I returned your essays today at the beginning of class. I gave you a short list of things NOT to do in a Social Studies essay. I collected your Chapter 4 questions as well today. I have assigned the following for homework for tomorrow from Chapter 17 in Canada: A Nation Unfolding:
I gave you a booklet today on Napoleon. There are two word searches, one crossword puzzle, and map assignment in this package. The word searches and crossword puzzle are due on Wednesday, March 8th. The map assignment is due on Thursday, March 9th. Additionally, I have e-mailed you a chart entitled "Napoleon's Conquests" which is also due on Thursday. There were a few problems with the crossword puzzle, so I will help you with a few of the clues. Please keep in mind that those puzzles and word searches are also used in 20 IB, so some of the clues are a bit of a challenge (and the answers aren't even in your textbook). Here are the answers to a few of the clues:
There will be some challenging ones in the word searches too, but start with the ones that you know and use a process of elimination to solve the rest. I will be giving you a study guide for the big test that's coming up next week very soon. It will cover the French Revolution, Napoleon, and the Congress of Vienna (which we will be getting to very shortly).

I did a homework check for the word searches at the beginning of class today. The first ten students with completed word searches that showed them to me received a bonus homework check mark.
I then showed you a "History Bites" video on the French Revolution. Was it corny? Maybe. Hopefully, you got some of those corny jokes because you know something about the French Revolution now. I then had you do a reading entitled "The Terror". I'm sorry, but I don't have an electronic version of this article to send to you by e-mail, so if you missed class today, please get this reading from me. Additionally, I would like you to create a chart (yes, I know, another one) on the "Governments of the Revolution". Organize your chart as follows: create the following headings: Dates, Government Name, Government Type, Important Events. Under the "Government Names" column, please fill in the following government names (I've put them here in chronological order already): National Assembly, Legislative Assembly, National Convention, and the Directory. Other than the Directory (which had a Republic as its' "Type of Government") I did not give you any more information. Please complete this chart for homework for tomorrow. Also I told you that you will be having a quiz on the French Revolution this Friday. The format for the quiz will be matching and short answer questions. I also told you that on Thursday, March 2nd you will be having your Regionalism Unit Final. The format of the unit final is entirely multiple choice, with about 60-70 questions.

Today, I made sure that you understood the "political spectrum" during the French Revolution, and the revolutionary governments. I gave you two word search puzzles, which are due on Monday (if you missed today's class, please be sure that you get these puzzles from me on Monday, they are useful for review). The first 10 students on Monday that show me their completed word searches, with the answer to the puzzle's clue question written down will get a bonus homework check mark.

I gave you a "Glossary of Names" and "Timeline" at the beginning of the class. I don't have an electronic version of these handouts, so please see me on Monday if you weren't in class today. These two handouts are very easy to understand, and they cover the time period from the French Revolution to the Napoleonic Era, so it's a really excellent reference for the next few weeks, and for review purposes too.
As far as homework goes, I would like you to finish reading Chapter 3: Causes of the French Revolution for Monday, and complete the questions 9-16 at the end of the Chapter 3.
